Enjoy

It seems strange being home on this or any Wednesday evening, although I am grateful for the time. Spring break has many advantages but one of them hopefully is the opportunity to catch up with family and friends.

As part of the Lenten season I have been following the daily readings of the lectionary. Today’s reading comes from Psalm 128. This psalm is known as a pilgrim song.

As I was reading the last few verses of this particular psalm I was struck by the words of blessing. The Psalmist declares, “Stand in awe of God’s Yes. Oh, how he blesses the one who fears God!
Enjoy the good life in Jerusalem every day of your life. And enjoy your grandchildren. Peace to Israel!” (The Message)

From the living room tonight, I could hear the voices and laughter of our grandchildren and these words were not lost on me. “Enjoy the good life in Jerusalem every day of your life. And enjoy your grandchildren.”

I would write a longer blog but I think I will do exactly what the Psalmist suggested-I will go and enjoy my grandchildren!

Peace to Israel and peace to all of us!
